In 2007 I graduated from Simpson University with a Bachelor of Arts in English. I then went on to Study Education at Corban University, completing their Teacher Licensure Program in 2009 and obtaining my Initial I Teaching License for Language Arts. I am currently taking courses through Corban University in order to complete my Master of Science in Education.
While working on my licensure I taught in the Dallas School District as an Educational Assistant, working with children who have behavior problems. I helped implement structured learning programs in a pull-out classroom and accompanied students to their mainstream classrooms to monitor their behavior. I completed four months of student teaching in the Dallas School District. I spent ten weeks at the High School in 9th and 10th grade Language Arts classes. I was responsible for creating units and lessons, teaching, and grading in four different classes. I created an in-depth Work Sample, analyzing my teaching and student learning. I then spent five weeks in the Middle School with eighth grade students. I was responsible for creating and teaching lessons. I again created an in-depth Work Sample.
After receiving my license I worked for the Dallas School District for a year as a substitute teacher. I taught in elementary, middle, and high school in a variety of subjects. I held one two week position in a 6th grade classroom and worked repeatedly in 3rd grade, Music, Language Arts, and Social Studies. I taught for 14 months in Bundang, South Korea with Chung Dahm Institute. I taught English language to students in grades 3 through 8 in the areas of reading, writing, listening, and speaking. I also taught summer and winter intensive programs and administered IBT tests quarterly. After returning to the United States I resumed my position in substitute teaching and continue to hold that position. I have worked in elementary, middle, and high schools in many different subjects including a three week position in high school Language Arts and several jobs in Drama, Careers, ESL, Special Education, and elementary Physical Education. |

I am pleased to apply for a teaching position in Korea. I have a Bachelor¡¯s degree from Simpson University, have earned my Teaching License and am currently working on my Master of Science in Education. I have several years of informal and formal teaching experience. I have had the opportunity of working with students in many different age groups and from a number of socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds. I have also had cross-cultural living experiences.
I believe that my teaching experiences have prepared me to work with a variety of students of different ages, backgrounds, and abilities. My experiences living in other countries and having friends and room-mates from different ethnic backgrounds has given me an appreciation of other cultures and has prepared me to live overseas and work with co-workers and students of another culture. I look forward to the opportunity of working in Korea. |
