To whom it may concern,
I am interested in a full time instructor position in Seoul or Incheon. I’ve been teaching in Korea for 5 years and have enjoyed working at the university level but I remain open-minded..
I started my career, like many, at a hogwon. I taught there for almost 3 years and I’m still friends with the managers. At the hogwon I learned a lot about Korean culture and teaching culture. I found ways to make my classes interesting and keep them energetic. After my time in the hogwon I started work at a middle school. In the public schools I had much more control over the curriculum and I learned how to make lesson plans that build upon each other and constantly challenged the students’ English ability. It was also in the public schools where I became more professional and learned to use the energy in my classroom to motivate the students to use their English to talk to me. In 2007 I earned my TEFL certificate which helped me understand new ways to structure a lesson and has generally made me a better teacher. Since then I have very much enjoyed teaching conversation classes at Kyeongbuk College where I’ve seen many of my students rapidly develop their speaking skills. I’ve found the give and take of a university level conversation class very rewarding.
