I am writing to express my interest in obtaining a position as an English Teacher within your organization. I am a competent and experienced ESL instructor from South Africa with over three years teaching and management experience within the ESL industry.

I have recently completed a  teaching contract in South Korea where I have been teaching and living for a number of years. My experience in South Korea has been immensely positive and I have enjoyed the people, culture and place very much. Being involved in the ESL industry has brought me professional satisfaction and personal fulfilment. I am however ready for a new challenge where I can broaden my horizons by using the skills I have acquired in a new region helping people use English in their daily lives.

After graduating from the University of Cape Town with a Bachelors of Social Science in 2005 I decided to complete  an intensive four week TEFL training programme. This is  where I first experienced ESL teaching as I taught refugees from Burundi, The Congo and DRC in a classroom environment. I found the experience to be stimulating and rewarding, with this in mind I found a job in South Korea where I have been teaching ESL to students of various ages and levels.

I come to you with over three years of ESL teaching experience primarily in South Korea, within that time I also gained valuable experience in management, training and recruitment. A highlight of my experience in management was the challenge of working with many people from different cultural backgrounds, it was my duty to make sure the staff were communicating and working together effectively.

Within the classroom I am a dedicated and patient teacher who encourages students to practice what they have learned. I attempt to create an open environment where students can feel comfortable learning and practicing English. I firmly believe students should enjoy and look forward to studying English and see it as a tool to unlocking the world around them.

As an individual, I am a hard, dedicated worker. I enjoy being part of a team and take pride in my work. I make a concerted effort to motivate and consult those around me. I am an open minded individual and am always ready to listen to the opinions and input of others. I embrace and enjoy the use of technology in my work and daily life. I believe that a person should live their life to the fullest and seek out activities that inspire, engage and challenge them.

I am excited about the opportunity to teach ESL in a new interesting country. My long term girlfriend, an experienced ESL teacher is also applying for a post through the same programme and we hope to make a life together in a new place. My belief is that I am well suited for the job, my experience as an English teacher and manager in South Korea has given me the necessary tools, skills and confidence I need to succeed.

I am an energetic, driven person who aspires to positions of leadership, I do not shy away from responsibility and pride myself on my strong work ethic. At this stage in my life I am ready to make a commitment to a career that I enjoy and believe in. I am looking for an organisation that respects and nurtures their employees while being committed to their cause.
