Mr. David Bertino Subject: Native English Teaching Position
To Whom It May Concern:
Thank you for considering my application for the available position as a native English teacher. Having spent the past two years as an English teacher in Korea, I understand the difficulties and the challenges for educators, but I have also seen the successes that can be achieved. I hope to bring that success to your school district.
While at Samsung Academy, I have gained experience teaching six year olds the beginnings of phonics as well as teaching science and world history to advanced students. At Opo Elementary school I taught a variety of grades and ability levels. My experience has taught be the importance of being flexible and the ability to teach many levels in the same class. As a Native English teacher, I believe it is my duty to share my culture and teach students to be global people. One of the many problems of English programs is the rigidness of text books. I have reached great success by going beyond the book, while still using the book as a basic curriculum. I believe in teaching through core language principals of reading, writing, and conversation. Using these principles I create my own material to add and improve on the book. Before arriving in Korea, I tutored foreign university students while earning my degree. I understand what it means to become a global person. I helped university students fulfill their dreams and I want to show young students the opportunities that await them.
Further details about my qualifications can be found on the enclosed résumé.
Thank you for considering me for this position, and I hope to speak with you soon.
Sincerely,
David Bertino |
