My name is Nadia Moolman.  I am a 33 year old female from Cape Town,
South Africa.

I spent 18 months in 2004/5 in Taiwan, teaching English at Hui Qiao English School, a private kindergarten and anxiban in Heng Chun, Pingtung County.  I had to return to
South Africa for personal reasons, but after a few years I realized that I miss living and working in Asia tremendously and I decided to make a major career change and
return.

After weeks of research I decided to apply to teach in South Korea and secured a
position with Janggi High School in Gimpo City, starting in June 2009.  Although I
found it challenging initially, I’ve come to enjoy and love being a teacher here and
renewed my contract for a second year.  Teaching high school students is vastly
different to kindergarten, but one manages to find one’s rewards in different ways.

It’s been almost two years since I arrived in Korea and I’ve loved every minute of it.  I have made wonderful friends, both Korean and foreign, and have also met my fiancé here. 

I am not in Korea for a break after university or to pay off study loans, I am here
because I made a conscious decision to change my career and pursue being a
foreign English teacher.  I consider Korea my home now and have no intention of
leaving the country soon.   My majors were in Public Relations and Communication
Science and these subjects, in addition to my TEFL certificate, have proven to be
very helpful in my teaching strategies.

My plans for the future include enrolling for a degree in education, specializing in
TESOL.  Languages have always been my passion and sharing that passion with my
students is something I want to do for the rest of my life.

My current contract expires on June 14^th and I’m seeking a position in the areas
between Uijeongbu and Dongducheon, where my fiancé is located.  We are planning to be married by the end of this year.
