Hi, I am applying for a job as an ESL teacher in Korea. While I have never taught English formally before, I have taught it as a volunteer for just under a month in Nicaragua. While it was not a long period of time, I was entirely responsible for my lesson plan and curriculum, and led these classes without supervision. As well, I am just now completing a 100-hour TESOL certificate from Ontesol.com. This certificate is recognized as a level one certification from ACTDEC (actdec.org.uk). I will be finishing the course within the next two weeks. I believe I would make a great ESL teacher because I have a very patient and sympathetic personality. I have a great understanding of the English language, and am a published poet and short fiction writer. I believe this could be a great help to any class because my experience as a writer as well as my creativity will assist me in making fun and creative lesson plans and activities for the students. The location of the placement is not very important to me, I'm sure I'll be happy anywhere. In terms of age, I believe I would work best with ages 8 and up, mainly because I have very little experience working with children who are of a younger age. If possible, I am hoping to leave sometime between March and May, but am open to jobs that leave either earlier or later than that. As well, I would prefer to work morning shifts, but this is not a very important factor for me. In terms of the necessary paperwork, I am a Canadian citizen and hold a valid passport.
