Dear ESL Agent:
I am seeking full time or part time employment as an English teacher in ESL Agent. I can only work from March until the end of July, but I have flexible time and can work on Saturdays, too. I found job positions in the ESL Agent website. I have an experience teaching an elementary student who just moved to America from Korea and my qualities of hard-working, being a leader, and working well with children show that I would be a perfect candidate for the job.
I am hardworking and driven to accomplish my goals. I was born in the United States, but I moved to Korea when I was four years old. Then, I came back to United States when I was in seventh grade and adapted to a new environment successfully. When I first came to the U.S., I could not speak in English and was in an ESL class, but after first year, I changed to a regular English class because I thought I would learn English faster. The class was more difficult, but I kept myself pushing and was successful in the class. And I have continued to push myself and came to University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. I received my Bachelor of Science in Liberal Arts and Sciences degree from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in May 2010. I plan to attend the pharmacy school at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) in August 2011. The college of pharmacy at UIC is ranked in the top ten pharmacy schools in the nation.
Not only do I work hard but I also value leadership, and I myself am a good team leader. I visited third grade classes and demonstrated fun science such as drawing on an arm with iodine and erasing it with a vitamin C in the program called REACT at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. I had to lead the demonstration and work with the third graders. I enjoyed seeing enthusiastic responses from elementary kids and found fulfillment in teaching them. Also, I really liked working with kids.
Other than teaching the third graders in the REACT program, I taught an elementary student who just came to the United States from Korea in the summer of 2008. I helped him practice speaking in English and learn vocabularies and writing. Even though I do not have much experience in teaching, I believe I can teach in English well because I had to learn English myself in America and therefore can understand and relate to those students who are learning English better. Also, I want to teach English because I would like people to be confident when they hear someone speaking in English and be able to speak in English rather than become nervous and quiet.
My previous experience teaching English to an elementary student, leading third graders in the REACT program, and being hardworking and responsible would benefit the English institutes greatly. I would love to make an appointment to discuss further on working as an English teacher. I am available for interviews after March 1, and I look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
Constance Cho |
