I have always been a highly motivated person with great interpersonal skills.  I believe that an effective teacher is one who is positive, who desires to draw out the potential in their students, and who never stops learning or further developing themselves, not only as an educator but as a mentor and person.  Moreover, a teacher should be are able to create within the classroom an environment that is interesting, stimulating, comfortable, and one that encourages growth among all students.  I believe that given the educational background and experience that I have encountered, I too have a lot to offer and it’s evident that I strive to be an effective teacher.  Teaching has always been a passion of mine.  I have taught a wide range of subjects and age groups over the past years and I have always approached each teaching opportunity with a high level of creativity and optimism.  I strongly believe that a student’s success strongly depends on how passionate the teacher is about not only the subject that they’re teaching but how well they can connect with their students and share their passion.  One of my passions in life is learning and I am particularly fond of language.  I think my passion for language and for teaching is evident in the positive energy and dedication I bring to the classroom. 

No sooner did I graduate university but I came to Korea in February of 2005 and started teaching kindergarten and elementary classes at Sogang Language Program (SLP) in Cheonan.  I have also taught at Eumbong Middle School in Asan for a year, as well as Dankook University in Cheonan where I was an English professor for three years.  Originally, my intentions were to live and teach in Korea for only a year but within the short span of one year, Korea became my home and I wanted to learn more about it.  I majored in English and minored in Korean culture at York University, so it was really an awesome experience to come and experience Korea’s culture first-hand. I have not only learned so much about Korea, it’s culture and people, but I have also learned about my own capabilities, strengths and weaknesses, as a person and as a professional.
