2210 Milton St. N Roseville, MN 55113 August 27, 2010 ESL Agent Dear Sir or Madam: Teaching English and working with children are longtime passions of mine. Thus, it was with great pleasure that I learned that ESL Agent is searching for highly qualified instructors. I am confident that my strong teaching background makes me an ideal candidate. As a member of the JET Programme, I taught as a public school teacher for the past two years within Japan. Within that position, I have worked within a wide variety of classrooms, from kindergarten to junior-high school. Through my work, I have seen firsthand the transformative power a teacher can have upon a student's life. How through imagination and planning, students can be inspired to learn. This knowledge has been bolstered by my continual research into teaching methods and careful analysis of my own lessons, allowing me to steadily hone my expertise. Alongside the substantial knowledge gained within my typical workday, I have also elected to increase my experience through participation in several volunteer teaching positions. For the last year, I held a weekly English class for adults. Here, I fostered a nurturing, informal learning environment while helping students gain both confidence and fluency in speaking English. I also directed an English summer camp for Junior High school students, where pupils engaged in a program carefully targeted to develop conversational skills. It was extremely gratifying to see the long-term results the camp had upon participants. In the following year, the students who had taken part were more open and engaged within their English classes, and their performance also substantially improved. Finding a position through ESL Agent would allow me a chance to share my talents as part of a truly remarkable program. I am certain that with my dedication and love of teaching, your students will gain access to all the life opportunities that accrue with a mastery of English. I appreciate your consideration and I look forward to hearing from you. Sincerely, Jeremy Goyette |
