To Whom It May Concern:
My name is Anthony Gilbert and I am searching for a teaching job in Korea. I am 26 years old American male and I just finished my degree at my university. I completed my degree in Asia Studies at the University of Washington. My major focus was on Korea and the Korean language. I also studied about Korean history, art, philosophy, religious denominations, politics, society, and economics. I completed 1.5 years of Korean language and I can read hangul and I know about 400 Chinese characters (hanja). I have worked in Korea before in the GEPIK program. It was the best job I ever had and I am looking forward to returning to Korea as soon as possible so that I can get back to my passion for teaching. I worked for one year in GEPIK teaching elementary school students and I also was able to briefly experience teaching middle school students for two weeks. Aside from my experience in Korea, I was a Teacher's Assistant at my university for a special class of students who came to my university to learn English. I also have been volunteering my time attending English as a Second Language classes at my university and other community colleges to help students with speaking and listening for over six years. I also have been tutoring non-native speakers of English for over nine years. The kind of job I am looking for in Korea is fairly open; however, there are some things I am looking for. First, I would like to be along the KTX line between Seoul and Busan. I would prefer to live either in (1) Busan, (2) Daejeon, or in (3) Seoul. I also would prefer to live in an area that has subway access. Also, if it is possible, I would like to teach middle school students or older students. I wouldn't mind having some classes with elementary school students; however, I would like to get more experience with older students, as I already have several years helping them in my country. However, being able to return to Korea as quickly as possible trumps all other hopes and wishes about a job.
Thank you very much for your time and I hope to hear from you soon. Sincerely, Anthony Gilbert |
