Ä¿¹ö·¹ÅÍ/À̷¼ I want to teach EFL because I covet dearly the mutual sense of beneficence, accomplishment and gratitude that is found only in teaching. I have never worked a job that provides such a feeling of a job well done. When you gain a new group of students¡¯ trust, they open up to you and do their best based on your lesson: it is a profound feeling. This unspoken agreement of student-teacher respect and relationship is the most important aspect in fostering the most productive learning environment possible. It is a great skill I cherish and wish to develop further through teaching EFL. When a class of students collectively decides to do their best, learn and prosper together, I believe it is a true reflection of humanities¡¯ communal nature and drive for knowledge and wisdom as one. It is an amazing thing. This is the way the world strives to be and it is also true in the way a great classroom functions. Participating in it is a great privilege I wish to be granted further. My educational philosophy for teaching EFL is based upon a co-teacher partnership of one native and one foreign teacher for each class. I feel this is the best method for students to learn as effective and efficiently as possible and the classroom to operate properly. The ultimate goal is students¡¯ thought processes to naturally work in English as their second language. There will always be instances, however, where it is beneficial for the subject matter to be explained in native mother tongue before transferring to English second language thinking. This mutually dependent relationship of native and foreign teachers is the best policy for teaching to enact as efficient and effectively as possible. This way the classroom will function properly and, most importantly, students will learn and develop as much as possible. I have always maintained mutual respect and objectivity upon encountering cultural differences. I grew up in a very multicultural country and school system and it was always just the norm to accept all different students for who they are. Any racial, ethnic or cultural prejudice is absolutely unacceptable. It is just something that goes without saying. That said, I grew up with friends of all different cultures and I love them all. I see the fleeting cultural differences as a means of bringing us together. The cultural contrasts only develop further interest and appeal in learning about, teaching, working and living harmoniously together. It bridges the gap and breaks the ice when first meeting new students and friends. I am a true adventurer at heart and therefore maintain a strong sense of curiosity and interest in all new experiences from a different culture, given they are healthy, safe and fun! I also feel it is the teacher¡¯s responsibility to learn at least a little of the students¡¯ language. It nurtures mutual cultural respect and understanding which in turn will impact student interest in the teacher and their drive to learn from them. I have a genuine interest in teaching Korean students and giving back as much as possible. I am grateful for your time and consideration to my application. Thank you.
