I have a double Bachelor's of Arts in Communication and Culture and Psychology from Clark University in Massachusetts (USA). After graduation, I traveled to Central America, Europe and Africa and learned much about the world outside of the United States. Following my travels, I started my teaching/education career at Wheelock College. I was the Executive Assistant to the Vice President for Academic Affairs for two years. In this position, I was surrounded by educators and administrator. During my time at Wheelock, I developed a love for education, as well as an interest in teaching. I received my TEFL certification from the Boston Language Institute in March 2009. I worked at a medium-sized Academy in Anyang City, as the head teacher, for the past year. I taught various skill levels from G1 to adults. The position was 30-35 hours teaching per week and 10 hours of preparatory time plus 3-5 hours of essay correction per week. The curriculum was based on an American school system, so not only was I teaching ESL, but I was teaching American literature, science and social studies.
I have learned a lot about teaching and education during the past few years and I hope to continue this learning process in the years to come. I am an enthusiastic, caring and dedicated teacher, who can bring a lot of spark to every classroom. I have enjoyed teaching various ages and have learned the qualities of each age group. I believe that the best teachers are the ones that do not give up on any student at any time and I make this my teaching mission.
I am currently teaching ESL at a summer camp that is run through Suyu English Village. As I am told, this position is very similar to teaching in a public elementary school. I am currently teaching a variety of subjects and levels for nine hours per day, as well as putting together a play, which will be performed on the last day of camp. |
