Dear ESL Agent:
I am interested in teaching English in Korea because I lived
in Bosan-dong with my husband who was stationed at
Camp Casey for a year and three months (July 3, 2007-
October 21, 2008). I have many memories from Korea and
am excited about the possibility of moving back there.
Teaching is a passion of mine. I thoroughly enjoy helping
students better understand the concepts they are studying.I had experience tutoring in Korea when I lived there. I had a 4, 7, and 18-year-old student. I created my own
curriculum for the 7 and 18-year-old. The 18-year-old
student spoke a little English. By the time I finished
tutoring her, she passed the TOEFL test, could understand much more of the language, and is currently going to an
Ohio community college where she is excelling in all of her
classes. The 7-year-old learned quickly and was learning 5
new words each session. By the end, the student had
learned over 100 words and understood the meanings of
the words as well. I taught the 4-year-old student using
sight and word association as well as flash cards. I have
also had experience teaching Sunday school in America.
This year (December 2009-April 2010) I taught the 3 and 4-year-old class which involved following the Sunday school
curriculum and providing learning tools. In addition, I
tutored math to a couple of middle school girls when I was
in high school (2000-2004) and had a job at the local
community college tutoring for an American government
class (2004). I have enjoyed teaching and seeing the
results of my efforts. Therefore, I would bring teaching
experience, a hard-working attitude, and a love for the
people of Korea to the students I would teach.
