Assisted the teachers at Harnham Infant School during the summer of 2000 as part of a work experience program. Here I was required to help teach children aged 5-6 years with a wide range of abilities, including those with special educational needs. I found this role very enjoyable and it gave me an opportunity to experience teaching at a relatively early age. I believe this experience has taught me patience when caring for children and has given me confidence when dealing with groups of pupils as well as on an individual basis.
More recently I have helped to improve my Spanish flatmate's spoken and written English, acting as a personal tutor. I help him with various aspects of English such as the spelling, vocabulary, grammar and syntax.
Having studied French and Spanish at university I feel I have a great deal of experience and knowledge of language learning in general. I have spent countless hours in language classes and have been taught in a wide variety of styles and have learned a great deal from this experience. I feel I am familiar with a wide range of language learning techniques and feel confident in my ability to adapt these methods to teaching English as a second language.

Dear Sir or Madam
I am currently looking for a position teaching English in Korea, especially in the city of Busan. I have seen the positions advertised on your website and I am very interested in applying. I am hoping to move to Busan to start a teaching career with my long term partner. I am a language graduate and studied Spanish & French at University so I am very skilled in all aspects of language learning.
Although we are coming to Busan as a couple, we do not require positions at the same school or accommodation together, as we are very flexible and are happy to teach any age group at any type of school. As a couple we are very stable and we plan to get married when we return to the UK.
We are interested in Busan as a location because it has been highly recommended to us by close friends of ours who live and work there as ESL teachers. We would like to be close to them but we don’t mind what area of the city we live in. We will be available to travel to Korea towards the end of June. I am currently waiting for my criminal record check to be returned to me, at which point I will be able to have it stamped by Apostille. I expect these documents to be completed early on in May.
I have heard that Korea is an excellent place to teach ESL, and I believe that my enthusiasm and experience with languages will help students of any age to learn English effectively. Both my partner and I have become interested in teaching since we graduated from University ourselves in 2008. My approach to teaching is based on my own experiences of learning languages. I hope to be able to draw on this experience and use techniques that I found to be useful and interesting, to inspire others to learn. I have researched into teaching methods for larger classes and classes of mixed abilities and believe that I would be very comfortable adapting to these kinds of circumstances successfully. Although I hope to gain valuable experience from teaching ESL in Korea, my ultimate aim is to provide students with an excellent understanding of English, by helping them to the best of my ability.
