Why do I want to teach English in Korea?
Its quite simple really; I want to gain more practical experience teaching children so I can progress my career in a teaching field. I see this opportunity to further my experience and eventually teach adults English in business. I also want to pay back some debt I have accumulated since studying.
I chose language as the subject of my teaching because I found I have a passion for languages when I studied Linguistics. Together with my major, Social Anthropology, I conglomerated the two and found myself falling in love with learning new things about people, and their different lifestyles other than their own. It seems in this instance I found myself to be the perfect candidate to go to a foreign country and be swept away by a different culture other than my own, and indulge in something I have found a complete loving for. This knowledge and learning experience will not only assist me in my career, but I will be fulfilled as a person, to know that there are different ways of living, not only by reading it in a book, but by also experiencing it first hand.
This not only excites me, but who knows where this experience will take me, and what other countries and teaching experiences are out there after my time in South Korea¡¦ I have seen so many of my friends come back from teaching and had such a self-fulfilling time while they were there. For someone who has not travelled and experienced a culture first hand, I find myself craving it and also experience what my friends have. Although some did it for financial reasons, and returned to their home country, I have a mind to go and see where this path may lead me. I am 25 and life awaits me beyond the walls of my home country and I am simply exploding inside to take the plunge and enjoy my time learning as much as I can.
