To Whom It May Concern,
I am writing to inquire about the possibility of employment in Korea. I am interested in gaining more experience in the field of education. I’ve recently spent time teaching English and travelling in South Korea, Spain, and Hong Kong, and I would love the chance to return to Korea. I would be very interested in learning more about your school, and about the available teaching opportunities.
I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Creative Writing and English, and while in college I gained some experience teaching basic literacy skills to young adults through the Literacy Volunteers of America program. After graduating, I completed a one-year contract with a nursery school in South Korea. In this position I enjoyed a great deal of responsibility in planning and executing my own classes, curriculum development, and activities in the subjects of English, arts and crafts, and music. After the completion of my contract I was invited to stay on at the school, but instead chose to move to Madrid, Spain and earn my TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) Certificate. While in Spain I worked as a private tutor with a variety of students, mostly adults and teenagers. My third education-related job was at a YMCA in my home state of Rhode Island, where I held a supervisory position in an after-school enrichment program called “School’s Out.” My most recent job was in Hong Kong, where I completed another year-long teaching contract. Again, I was invited to renew my contract, but chose to return to the United States.
I have travelled extensively over the past few years, and am now looking for something a little more permanent. I love Korea and intend to find a job there that challenges and inspires me—a job that I will want to stay with for at least a few years.
