In my time as a client advocate my duties were to help link clients to programs or resources that they would otherwise not have accessed. While involved in this group, I assisted in new volunteer trainings, helped organized resource binders, and worked directly with clients in a one on one situation. In this capacity, I helped clients develop resumes, cover letters, apply for jobs, file their taxes, and find housing and shelters. In my time as a research assistant for the study on academic achievement, I interviewed the families with high school aged children and asked a number of questions about the nature of the children's situation and their achievement in school. I also helped to develop the questions, code and file the information and organize interviews. In my current role as a Therapeutic Staff Support, I have worked attempting to modify the behavior of children with a variety of mental health diagnoses. The job has required acting as a bridge between the children, school and sometimes parents helping them all to modify behaviors so that the children learn appropriate social interactions. |

I would like to apply to work as an English teacher for your agency. I feel as if my experiences working with children for the past eight months as a Therapeutic Staff Support have given me the patience and consistency that's necessary to have if one intends to teach a classroom. Within the month as I am to start substitute teaching for the Philadelphia school district. I have passed their substitute teaching test, have all of my clearances, and have been processed to begin work. However, I am more interested in the opportunity to experience a new part of the world and expose myself to another culture.
