°ÀÇ°æÇè In 2008-2009, I worked with a school called Ding Ding Dang in Gyeongju.  I enjoyed my experience there and would have liked to go back to the same school.  Unfortunately, they were not hiring until August and I am ready to get back quickly.

To me, teaching was all about the children.  I enjoyed building relationships with my students and learning who they were as human beings.  It was very difficult for me to leave them.
Ä¿¹ö·¹ÅÍ/À̷¼ Dear Sir or Madam:

The real question is: "What more will Korea teach me?"  Having already completed a year as an English teacher in Korea, I am ready to take that experience to a new level, face new challenges, and learn more about Korea. My bachelor degree in journalism at Texas A&M University gave me knowledge of English, and Oxford Seminars prepared me to teach the language. However, my love of Korea is the reason I wish to return to Korea for a position with your school as an ESL teacher.

It is the duty of the modern educator to prepare students for a new, globalized economy. As technology advances and communication between cultures increases, it becomes necessary for the youth of Korea to adapt to a changing world climate. To do this, teachers, as well as students, must be ready to express openness to new cultures and ideas. It is important for teachers to create a learning environment in which children are encouraged and excited to participate. As a person, I already possess a fondness of different cultures and youth.  I am eager to experience another culture as well as teach others, especially youth, about my own. As an English teacher, I aim to stimulate the interests of my students in the subject, and create an environment in which students will be actively engaged in the learning process.

Having successfully completed a teaching contract in Korea, I am already prepared to face the challenges of a Korean classroom.  Upon completion of my contract, I was asked to stay for another year and left the school on excellent standing with the management.  Though one year of my professional experience comes from teaching in Korea, three years of my experience comes from working as a certified trainer at a bank.  The knowledge I gained from teaching young men and women to become professional bankers prepared me to teach a classroom.  Also, due to my educational background in journalism, I have an extensive knowledge of English grammar and vocabulary.  The traits alone are not enough to teach a classroom.  Having been a student most of my life, I know that a good teacher loves to teach, but a great teacher loves to learn.  I have always been a seeker of knowledge.  My desire to learn about my students, I believe, will motivate my students to learn.

My resume outlines my qualifications as a teacher; however, it does not express my interest in the Korean culture. As a student at Texas A&M University, I had several Korean professors who managed to peak my curiosity in the country. Though I plan to teach Koreans, it is my belief that I can learn more from the people and nation of Korea. I appreciate your consideration of my application and hope that we can arrange an interview at your convenience.

Thank you for your time,

Omar B. Horner
