Various part-time jobs tutoring and working as an assistant teacher. |

Hi recruiter,
I'm seeking a position teaching English in South Korea. I'm a 23 year
old male with a degree, but no certificate and no real formal
experience teaching (just part-time jobs). I'm interested in any of
the positions that are interested in me. I am attaching my resume and a photo but I also want
you to understand my interest in this position.
During the last four years at Bard College in addition to taking
classes in literature, philosophy, and politics I gained extensive
experience tutoring writing and teaching English. In the summer
following my freshman year I traveled to China and took classes at
Qingdao University while also assistant teaching at a nearby
elementary school. At college I tutored other students in writing all
four years at Bard. Additionally, I tutored children ranging from
grades 4 to 8 at Rhinebeck Middle School as part of an English as a
Second Language program (ESL). I also assisted a teacher in New
Orleans with a fourth grade class. I tutored prisoners as part of the
Bard Prison Initiative. I enjoy teaching and working with students
both young and old. My whole life I have been fascinated not only with
learning languages (I speak Mandarin Chinese decently and German very
well) but also with how one learns a
language. Every semester at Bard I was enrolled in a language course
and I learned just as much about how to teach and study languages as I
did of the actual languages. I¡¯ve had great teachers and poor ones and
I have some ideas on the best ways to acquire a second language.
Having just graduated college I want to get out in the world and see
what I can accomplish. All my years in school have prepared me and I
think my confident academic stride will only grow stronger as I
transition into the real world. I would love the opportunity to travel
to Korea, learn more about its culture and develop my teaching skills.
I've assembled all the necessary documents for a visa application and I've
begun learning Korean.
Thank you for taking the time to seriously review my application and
resume. I am available for an interview over the phone at your
convenience.
Sincerely,
David Lang |
