I have fantastic communication skills and have had teaching experience in South Korea and the United Kingdom. I have learned how to make information accessible to young children and how to hold their attention. I have learnt the importance of making connections that children will remember, such as associating stories and pictures with new vocabulary. I can think of one phonics class in particular where this approach has helped greatly in expanding the children’s vocabulary and pronunciation. I found this fascinating. |

I started my current teaching contract in April, 2009, and have since been teaching at an academy in Uijeongbu, South Korea. I’m teaching English to children of elementary and middle school age, and am thoroughly enjoying the experience. I have found the role challenging and stimulating as I expand my understanding of the need to select an appropriate teaching style for age and academic ability. I want to further develop my skills in teaching, and therefore wish to return to South Korea to begin another role, in April or May, 2010. |
