I spent seven months teaching English in Gunsan, Jeollabuk-do, from February 2009 - September 2009.
I instructed outdoor activities and pursuits to teenagers in Ireland, for the autumn season of 2008 and 2007.
I taught water and land based activities through the Irish language, as a second language on an island off the west coast of Ireland for the summers of 2008 and 2007. The students ages ranged from 10 - 18 years.
As a teenager, I taught Irish dancing to young children at weekends over a period of two years.
I completed a one month full time CELT course in Ireland in November 2009.
I was awarded a Bachelors of Arts (Honours Programme) from the National University of Ireland, Galway in 2004.

Thank you for taking the time to consider my application.
I am an Irish citizen and grew up on the west coast of Ireland. I have an earnest interest in the English language and studied a Bachelor of Arts Degree in University, majoring in English and Legal Science. I also take pleasure in the pursuit of outdoor sports and activities and spend my spare kayaking, hiking, climbing or surfing. I spent two, six month seasons instructing adventure activities to children and teenagers. Prior to this, I taught Irish dance to young children each Saturday, for a period of two years.
I have just recently returned to Ireland from Korea, where I spent seven incredible months teaching English at the Jeonbuk Foreign Language High School, in Gunsan. Primarily, I taught English conversation and writing classes to second grade students. I also ran two successful English language courses for Korean teachers to help them to improve their proficiency in the language and also to assist them with various methods of how to teach a foreign language in the classroom. For the second of these courses, I had a chapter published in a teacher training manual for the Jeollabuk-do Provincial Office of Education. I thoroughly enjoyed my time there and built up a great rapport with the students and fellow teachers
While in Korea, I developed a keen interest in rock climbing and I spent a lot of time exploring the country and its amazing national parks. I have always had an awareness of outdoor recreational sports, but I was taken aback by the beautiful mountainous landscape that the peninsula has to offer.
I also embraced Korean culture and enjoyed learning Hangul and adapting to the Korean way of life. I continually welcome new objectives and find that I thrive in the challenge of immersing myself in new cultures. In recent years, I have discovered within myself an aptitude for languages and revel in the opportunity to develop this more.
I enjoy working with people and find teaching to be very rewarding. I have an avid interest in the development of foreign language learning skills, and in the future hope to pursue a Masters in English as a foreign language. I would delight in the opportunity to join your esteemed team.
