I have worked as an ESL teacher in Korea for one year so far. It was by far the greatest year of my life. I expected an amazing and interesting experience, but I did not know then that it would affect me so greatly. I realized very early on during my last contract that I was going to come back and teach another year. Although I cherished my students who worked hard all of the time and were naturally gifted in English, the sense of accomplishment I got when the hard work I devoted to students who needed more personal attention paid off is what truly made the work incredible. Last year I worked with students from age 4 to age 14. It was fun working with the older students, but teaching and playing with the kindergarteners was definitely the highlight of every work day. I would love a position in which I could work closely with kindergarteners once again. I feel that my compassion and empathy for young students along with the year of experience I now have will make me an extremely strong teacher for any school. |
