Informal Self-Introduction
My resume can certainly attest to my qualifications – what I have learned, where I have been, and what I have done. Therefore, repeating this information would be redundant. Instead, I would much rather take advantage of this opportunity to reveal a quick glimpse of an actual person within.
Who am I? Adequately describing one’s personality is a difficult if not almost an impossible task because a human character is so complex and multifaceted. However, if I could convey my whole essence by three words only, the following ones immediately come to my mind: dependable, organized, and optimistic.
To elaborate more, I have a highly-developed sense of personal responsibility. I do all assignments thoroughly and conscientiously with or without supervision because this is the way tasks should be done. I have high expectations for myself as well as for others. Since I always think methodically and logically, I like to plan things in advance and accomplish them step-by-step. I often create a do-to-list when faced with numerous or particularly complicated projects. In addition, I try to maintain a positive attitude at all times. Regardless of how difficult a certain situation might seem, a solution can always be discovered by joint effort of a working team. Whenever there is a will, there is a way.
I think the weakest aspect if my personality is shyness. I frequently feel uncomfortable meeting people for the first time, not knowing how to properly make a small talk or what would be the right thing to say or do. Ever since I started making a conscious effort to overcome this difficulty, I have noticed a considerable improvement. Once I get to know someone better, I open up and become more approachable and confident.
The quality I admire the most in a colleague is strong work ethics. A lot can be done with a teammate one can trust and depend on. What I dislike the most in others is negativity. It spreads like a contagious disease, destroying pleasant and productive work environment and putting unnecessary strain on coworkers.
Hopefully, this quick outline of my personality will help you understand the real person behind a few pages of a resume. I strongly believe that individual’s character is just as, if not more, important than his/her professional qualifications.
