• One year as an E.S.L. teacher at Jungchul Academy in Daegu, Korea. Taught a blended style curriculum, working closely with Korean teachers to reinforce lessons. Used a mostly set curriculum, with allowances as needed.
• Eighteen months as an E.S.L. teacher at KAGE/Plateau in Daejeon, Korea. Taught critical reading and thinking skills to children from grades E1 through M2. Also separate classes for ages 5, 6, and 7. Also developed and taught a writing/grammar/vocabulary class for grades E3 - M2. Developed and taught a speech class, both writing and presentation, for grades E4 - M2.
• One year as an Instructor/Operator in the Flight Simulator for the US Army. Taught small groups and individuals in both a classroom setting and in the simulator cockpit. Taught and evaluated critical skills to ensure safety and that all FAA regulations were understood and met.
• Three years as an Instructor Pilot/Evaluator for the U.S. Army. Taught all aspects of flight training, as a platform instructor to larger groups, small group instruction, and individual training/evaluation in the classroom and in the cockpit. Also developed and taught the non-rated crew-member training program that the U.S. Army later adopted.
• Taught the Washington State Class 12 Licensing/TIPS course to small adult groups in a classroom setting. This used a variety of audio/visual tools as well as textbooks

Ä¿¹ö·¹ÅÍ/À̷¼­

I have recently returned to the United States after teaching E.S.L. in Korea for the past 32 months.

I taught for Jungchul Academy in Daegu from October, 2011 through October, 2012. Jungchul uses a blended approach to learning, spending part of the class time with a Korean teacher, and the rest of the class with a foreign teacher to reinforce what they learned. We used a mostly set curriculum, with some deviations as needed. Students were age E1 through M3.

Prior to this, I spent 18 months at a very enjoyable job teaching high level students in a fully immersive environment. Using the Junior Great Books series, along with our own lessons, many skills were emphasized, such as critical reading and thinking skills, class discussions, vocabulary, story theme, plot, and author intent. We created our own lessons based on the storybooks, which emphasized critical reading, vocabulary, and critical learning.


I also developed and taught a writing/vocabulary/grammar/speech class for grades E3 through M2. We used a variety of English textbooks to teach grammar, vocabulary, speech writing and delivery, and A&I writing skills.


I have a varied background with teaching many different subjects to students at all levels, from pre-K through adult.




My foreign friends, Korean friends, Korean teachers, and the Directors from both schools I taught at said I would return to Korea soon. I think they were right.


Some of my hobbies are:


I became an avid bike rider while living in Korea.


I'm also a computer geek building machines for myself, friends, and family. I also taught several beginners basic computer/Windows skills.


Flying. I have my commercial instrument RW rating, and instructor rating.
