I have worked in many jobs that have left me feeling unfulfilled. I desire more from a career, and as such I was drawn to teaching where I felt I could best share my love of learning to children who could benefit the most from the skills that I have to offer.
I am a creative, imaginative and motivated person. These attributes allow me to plan and implement teaching plans that utilise the most current teaching methodologies. I am especially excited when given the opportunity to teach using digital technologies and have learned through previous experiences many ways to implement these in the classroom for integrated lessons.
I am interested in English as a subject but also in teaching English skills at all levels, helping to develop an awareness of how information needs to be adapted to different groups and purposes. My time teaching in Korea has allowed me to further understand the requirements necessary to teach effectively.
I have learnt to ensure that I keep my instructions simple, and my lesson plans concise. This is to ensure that all students are given equal availability to learn and improve their usage of English in daily situations. Simple learning games and structured activities also help to allow my students to feel learning English can be fun, and rewarding.
I intend to continue improving my ability to implement teaching strategies that not only benefit my students in attaining high levels of academic achievement, but also and perhaps more importantly, to ensure their understanding of spoken English enables them to feel confident expressing themselves in any daily situation
