Please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Natalie Garcia and I would like to be considered for an ESL Teaching Position in South Korea. As a native speaker originally from the United States of America, I am further qualified with experience as an English-as-a-Second-Language Tutor and a Bachelor Degree in English Writing from the University of British Columbia, Canada.
When I first arrived in Vancouver, opportunities in tutoring ESL students immediately presented themselves to me. As soon as my landlords, neighbours, and their friends discovered that I was specializing in English reading and writing, they sought me out to tutor their children. My students were originally from China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. My goal was to make sure these children could perform at the same level as their peers in Canadian schools. As I got to know each of my students, I was able to customize lessons based on their personal needs, and invent challenging exercises suited to their learning style and interests. I enjoyed finding creative and fun methods to teach English, often utilizing my favorite hobbies: music, theatre, and storytelling.
While completing my degree in Canada, I was also fortunate to find employment at an international ESL school as an Administrative Assistant, Registrar and Homestay Coordinator. At the front desk I relayed information between teachers and students, coordinated activities that related to academic lessons, and handled all the other little details necessary to run the school smoothly. I truly enjoyed creating a supportive and welcoming environment for the exchange of ideas between diverse people within the school. My experience with Centre Linguista provided me with a solid foundation in all the details of managing groups of students and working within a professional language school.
I am looking for work similar to my past experiences in education because they were the most rewarding and enriching jobs of my career. Now, I am looking forward to opportunities in the education industry abroad! I am very excited to continue my teaching career while exploring the culture and scenery of South Korea.
