I have experience working as a teacher in a special school which caters for children with autistic spectrum disorder. I was responsible for teaching academic, self help and communication skills to children with a range of cognitive impairments including a significant difficulty in acquiring language. I taught the above skills in a creative, fun and professional manner. I worked alongside my supervisor in developing lesson plans and organising teaching materials. I learnt to work as part of a team with my co-workers and supervisor but also on my own initiative. Working with children with autism requires someone who is patient, caring and professional. I am confident that I can use my skills developed in my previous experience and apply them to teaching English as a second language.
I hold a Bachelor of Arts Degree at honours level. I majored in Sociology and Politics and Psychological studies. I also hold a Postgraduate Diploma in Psychology. I have studied English literature as part of my undergraduate Degree so I have a strong command of written and oral English. As part of my postgraduate qualification in Psychology I have studied modules such as child development, acquisition of language and educational psychology. My academic qualifications have provided me with an excellent knowledge of the development of language. I have studied various methods of teaching and have researched which teaching styles are most effective. In the future I hope to undertake a PHD in Educational Psychology so I believe this experience would be invaluable to me. |

I am a motivated, enthusiastic and energetic native English Speaker from Ireland. I adapt well to new environments. I have worked in the USA and have studied in the United Kingdom so I enjoy working and learning in new environments. I am outgoing and open minded so I believe this experience would be an excellent opportunity for me. I received extensive training as part of my previous work experience so I am very open to future training as required. I can offer your school someone who is respectful, dedicated and above all has a strong passion for teaching. I would particularly like to work in South Korea as it is a beautiful country with a fascinating culture. |
