I feel that I would be a great fit with you for several reasons. Not only is teaching my career, it is my passion in life. No matter if it is an adult or a child, I want to make a positive impact on those that I teach. For the past year and a half, I've had the opportunity to gain valuable classroom experience as a substitute teacher through the local school districts here in the United States. Various aspects of the classroom, such as discipline, classroom management, time management, and keeping subject matter fresh to keep students eager to learn, are things that cannot be taught-- they must be learned from experience. This is where I have an advantage over someone fresh out of college.
Another factor that sets me apart from the typical candidate is my age and maturity. I have lived through life's trials, and know what it takes to overcome them. What may seem like a major obstacle for a fresh out of college applicant is something that I can easily take on. I look forward to the challenges that teaching brings, because it helps me learn how to be a better teacher.
My years of experience dealing with clients, customers, students, parents, and other educators has allowed me to learn to deal with different types of people effectively. I also feel that my interest outside of the classroom help me relate and connect with my students, and in turn allows me to better instruct them. My experience coaching various age groups in baseball has taught me the patience and skills necessary to help my students achieve their goals.
