Dear Potential School Employer,
Theater Arts¡¦.the stage is it¡¯s home, yet it can be found in many different aspects of life¡¦teaching being just one of many.
I have close to ten years of experience getting up in front of a group of people. I can engage a room, make them smile, make them laugh and have them leave with having learned something new. I can be stern when needed, soft when appropriate and do it all with firm control. I know how to take direction from superiors and use the template of necessary given requirements effectively. I prepare for my time in front an audience by studying in advance and arriving with punctuality, and in prime physical and mental condition. I am ready for any bumps in the road that may occur and will use my experience and intelligence to tackle any obstacle.
I approach the English language with confidence and knowledge, having studied its¡¯ correct pronunciations in both theater diction classes and inversely through studying the Spanish language. Having been a student in Spanish language classes for eight years, I know the flow and structure of a language course. I have personal beliefs on the different approaches to teaching a new language and feel I have a clear view on which ones are more effective than others. Bottom line, I am very comfortable with both the English language and a language classroom environment.
My degree may not be in education, but because of my training in theater arts and Spanish, I have a solid sense of the educational standards that should take place in a classroom. Additionally, being raised by a teacher of over 20 years, my mother, I was shown the hard work and dedication that goes into being a teacher. I feel in my lifetime I have been exposed to a positive educational model. Now I am ready to follow in my mother¡¯s footsteps and hopefully be given the opportunity to teach children English in South Korea. After my time teaching in South Korea, I plan to go back to school and get my Masters in Education.
Thank you for your time, and I look forward to talking with you soon.
Sincerely,
Mary Erwin
