Dear Madam/Sir,
I am writing to you with regards to a possible opening as an English teacher in Korea. You will find that my experiences, along with my studies in communications at Arizona State University, make me a highly suitable candidate for the position.
While serving in the United States Air Force, I developed strong leadership and interpersonal communication skills. I was responsible for maintaining the F-16 fighter aircraft with strong emphasis on the avionic systems. I was also responsible for maintaining sensitive tool and repair parts. This entailed maintaining inventory levels and forecasting future demand.
At Discover Card I was responsible for solving various account delinquencies by using listening and negotiation skills. Furthermore, my ability to solve problems stemmed from my knowledge of all financial options and payment plans.
My job at the retirement community enabled me to enhance the quality of life for the elderly and to create a positive environment for the residents. I was also a dispatcher responsible for making appointments to various medical facilities—and arranging transportation. Also, I was responsible for verifying all residents were safe and accounted for.
At Arizona State University, I have learned how to collaborate with different team members toward a mutually beneficial goal while taking teamwork-focused management classes. More importantly, I improved my communication skills to convey messages more effectively, but also interpret messages accurately in a team setting. Also, I have traveled all over the world; this helped me to gain insights into how and when to be culturally sensitive when working with other people from other cultures.
There are many accomplishments which are highlighted on my resume. I would like to discuss further how my experience, skills, and education will be of value towards teaching English in Korea. I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Sincerely,
Eiji W. Smith
