To whom it may concern,
I am an aspiring young author, accustomed to moving from place to place in order to follow my educational and vocational needs. I see great possibilities in Korea to broaden my cultural blinkers by exposing myself to new a culture and language; aside from this motivation, I believe I can bring a lot to your institute and its students. I am passionate about the English language and I hope that, with training, some of that passion will come to reflect on your students. I am currently nearing completion of a Masters degree in Creative Writing at the University of East Anglia (I will have finished by the 3rd of September, although I will not formally graduate until my dissertation is marked in 2010). This degree – highly regarded in literary circles – is largely based on group criticism of individual work. As a result, it encourages skills that transfer well into teaching – clarity of focus, communication of ideas and patience – alongside the technical rigorousness that marks out a good writer. Both my degrees have fostered the ability to work independently, to prioritise tasks and to adapt to new methods of thinking. As I hope my curriculum vitae will demonstrate, I have been a valued long-term employee who has quickly attained competency at the various positions I have held. I am keen to prove myself with more responsibility and to learn a new set of vocational skills of the type that can feed into my writing. I would be grateful for the opportunity to do so.
Yours Sincerely,
Jacob Rollinson |
