Ä¿¹ö·¹ÅÍ/À̷¼­ I would like to teach English as a foreign language in South Korea, as I am passionate about Korean culture and would like very much to live there to immerse my self in their culture. The opportunity to live somewhere which is ¡°non-western¡± and to discover and learn about a different set of values, beliefs and way of living is amazing and happens rarely in a life time. For me South Korea would be an excellent example of such a place as I am interested about their food, history and culture.
My diverse experience in education; working with young learners and from the CELTA course has put me in an ideal position to pass on my knowledge and expertise to enable students to progress both personally and academically. My 6 months work placement which I undertook as a part of my University studies involved volunteering as a teaching assistant at The R.E.M.E.C Education Centre for young groups of children from ages 5-16.  In this role, I worked closely with young learners as well as managing and dealing with students who had behavioural and learning difficulties. One unforgettable experience was when I was asked to substitute as an English teacher last minute for students in the secondary years. I managed to deliver a good class and established a close contact with the students, it was a breathtaking experience.
In conjunction with my work I am also doing the CELTA (Certificate English Language Teaching to Adult) course on a part time basis at Westminster Kingsway College which started Jan 09 and is until June 09. From this course I have acquired extensive experience of teaching practice and have demonstrated a strong ability to work on my own initiative. I have also developed a high level of skills for classroom management as well as lesson planning and have identified my areas of weakness which I intend to improve on throughout the course.

I strongly believe that I have found my niche in teaching and there is nothing more rewarding than watching one¡¯s students develop to become confident and independent individuals who reach their full potential. The experience to teach Korean students while living there would be challenging, interesting and will give me a whole new insight to life and bring me so many positive changes.
