Dear Director,
Over the past two years I have worked closely with ESL students, both as an advisor at the Northwest School and currently as an ESL teacher in South Korea. Working with students truly has been a rewarding experience and has made me enthusiastic about continuing teaching. I am writing to apply for a position with your school as a Teacher of English as a Second Language. Although my preference would be to teach children, I am open and qualified to teach students at any level.
During the past year I have discovered that although teaching can be difficult at times it also very rewarding. A teacher¡¯s responsibility is to provide a supportive, dynamic, and creative learning environment for students of diverse abilities. As a teacher I will seek to not only encourage personal educational growth, but also help foster interpersonal teamwork skills as well.
My education, with degrees in Anthropology and Biology, and my experiences traveling and living abroad have provided me with a diverse skill set, an open-mind, and the positive attitude essential to teaching English overseas. These attributes will not only assist in living a productive life abroad, but will lend themselves to being a role-model for students. Being a positive influence is a quality I believe is paramount in a successful classroom dynamic.
Having worked at the Northwest School, I have mentored children from around the world including Asia, Europe, South America, and the Middle East. I have had the chance to learn about cultures and lifestyles firsthand. This past year I have really enjoyed and appreciated the opportunity to work and live in South Korea. Experiencing different cultures is something I seek because not only is it fun to have an adventure it always positively impacts my worldview. I am passionate about diversity and am extremely interested in teaching in Korea.
Please find my resume and other documents enclosed. I am excited about the possible opportunities with your school and look forward to discussing them further. I hope that we can arrange an interview at your earliest convenience. I appreciate your consideration of my application.
Thank you for your time.
Respectfully,
Jennifer Walden
