Ä¿¹ö·¹ÅÍ/À̷¼ FAO whom it may concern,

In 2008 I graduated from the University of Central Lancashire with a lower second class honours in TESOL with Spanish.  Regarding teaching, one hour per week during the final two years was observed and furthermore was assessed once every month to ensure continual professional development.  Lessons were delivered to wide range of learners, learners of whom the majority were of East Asian origin aged in their twenties studying English as part of their degree program.  Regarding theoretical concepts learned, ¡®Language Awareness¡¯ and ¡®Second Language Acquisition¡¯ were the most prominent in focus.  In addition, testing was a specialism and an extended research project was also completed which focussed on Chinese learners¡¯ perceptions of error correction in the English language classroom.

The work completed in years two and three of the undergraduate course is beyond that of the Trinity certificate in TESOL.

Lastly, a year long placement was completed on behalf of the British Council in a bilingual primary school in Madrid, Spain.

More recently, I have completed a postgraduate PGCE at Goldsmiths College, University of London.  Regarding teaching, two placements were completed in primary schools in London, England and one placement was completed in a primary school in Tenerife, Spain.  During these placements, six observations and assessments were also completed to ensure continuous professional development.

Regarding the theoretical concepts learned, the National Curriculum, learning and teaching strategies and ¡®Second Language Acquisition¡¯ proved the main focus.  Two extended pieces of research were also completed, the focus of these being learning strategies and the theories of ¡®Second Language Acquisition¡¯.

Throughout my education at undergraduate and postgraduate level, I believe that I have developed planning and organisation skills as I have gained considerable experience of organising people, activities and resources through teaching.  I also believe that I am a reliable and responsible person as I am punctual, evident from my excellent attendance record at university and at work as well as my demand for high standards of care and attention to detail, particularly in regard to safety and the well being of others.  Regarding my communication skills I believe that these have developed through varied teaching roles and that I can relate to a wide age and ability range.  Furthermore, I posses a high level of written and presentation skills developed throughout my university courses.  Teamwork is another skill that I posses and I believe this has been achieved through working closely with colleagues to share ideas and specialist knowledge in industry and at school.  In addition, work at the BCSSA entailed close co-operation with other teachers under my supervision.  Finally, I have relevant skills in Information Communications Technology as I have an excellent grasp of a range of Microsoft applications, including Word, Excel and Power-point as they were used to create materials and integrate ICT as a resource within lessons.  I also have fluent knowledge of specialist subject software packages, which are used often in conjunction with a whiteboard.  Furthermore, regular use of the internet for research and lesson planning has allowed me to gain an excellent handle of associated features.

I am now looking for a position, in which I am able to apply my plethora of skills and experience to in order to be a success and contribute the success of an industry.  I am also looking to do this within new surroundings and amongst great people.

Many thanks for taking the time to read my covering letter and I look forward to hearing from you soon.
