I am writing regarding the position of English Instructor beginning in the Fall of 2009. I am looking to bring my diverse teaching abilities and enthusiastic attitude to effectively succeed in a university setting.
Pertinent skills and experience for this position include:
• Empathy. I have served as a volunteer mentor within the Big Brother program as well as in numerous other philanthropic activities.
• Diverse skills. In addition to extensive teaching experience I bring a background in theatre and professional voice training which enables me to pinpoint and correct student errors.
• Professional Development. I have the strong belief that we should embrace our own lessons- as a teacher of speaking I am constantly testing and improving my own speaking skills through the Toastmasters organization.
• Competency. I have received strong positive feedback on my teaching from peers, supervisors and students.
• Passion. I believe the creation of a low-anxiety/high motivation classroom environment where students are able to learn in ways that reach beyond the close of the semester should be the focus of any classroom.
• Team Oriented. I bring an excellent sprit of camaraderie and communication, where I am always happy to help a fellow teacher or aid an administrator.
• B.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies (Psychology).
