I graduated from The University of California Santa Cruz in June, 2008 with a BA in History with an Asian concentration.
From July 2008 - April 2009 I worked at Toyama English Academy in Hamamatsu, Japan. There I taught students of all ages from 3 years old to individuals in their 60's, in both private and group lessons. I was responsible for developing my own class curriculum at times, and also used several TESL series from Oxford and Cambridge. |

Hello,
I would like to express my strong desire to work as an English Teacher in Korea. Having recently returned to the USA from teaching in Hamamatsu, Japan, I hope to put to use the valuable knowledge, skill, leadership and teaching ability I have gained from this employment, as well as a strong desire to educate children, towards a career as an English Teacher in Korea. To this I feel I would be a great fit at one of your schools.
During my last employment, I developed a vast amount of knowledge and teaching ability while working for Toyama English Academy in Hamamatsu, Japan. Teaching all ages of students, with my youngest being 3 years old and some of the oldest in their 60¡¯s, in both group and private lessons, I was responsible for my own class curriculum, as well as for the development of over 100 students. While I taught all ages, I found working with children to be the most enjoyable, and rewarding of all my classes. To know that I was personally educating and affecting their individual lives in a positive manner made teaching a quite rewarding experience. I hope to bring this same desire to teach to a position in Korea.
I have long wanted to visit Korea. Having studied Asian history at University I found that, unfortunately, it wasn¡¯t a country discussed in great depth, and I was always left wanting to learn more about its rich history and culture. Beyond this, I have recently had several friends teach throughout Korea, and they have had only wonderful things to say about their experiences. All of this giving me a greater drive to have such a joyous teaching and cultural experience.
It is this teaching knowledge and experience which I have gained from my months spent at Toyama English Academy, as well as the strong desire to discover Korean culture, that I would like to put towards a career as a teacher in Korea. I eagerly await hearing back from you, and can be reached at +01 (619) 417 -1201 at any time during the day.
I look forward to contributing to, and being a part of, one of your schools in the future.
Sincerely,
Brett Nelson |
