Graduated May 2009 from Skidmore College, a small northeastern, liberal arts college. I majored in history, although I took some courses in English literature and writing.
I taught English language privately for about 6 months in Chile, and I assisted teachers in an American elementary school for about 5 months. |

To whom it may concern,
Teaching in Asia has been a goal of mine for many years, although I recently decided to teach in Korea. My enthusiasm for teaching and for children led me to several experiences working with children. As noted on my resume, I have had wonderful experiences teaching my young students in Chile, New York, and Guatemala where I volunteered at a girl¡¯s elementary school (not include on my resume).
From these experiences, I gained invaluable skills necessary to work with and bring the best out of children. For example, these experiences gave me confidence in my ability to connect with children¡¯s frustration with mastering new subjects, and yet to understand their extraordinary capacity to learn. The teacher¡¯s role is to encourage and be patient with the student. Although the teacher may not demonstrate their frustration outwardly, children are extremely receptive to feelings and changes of mood. From my teaching experiences, I believe I have learned to be a more patient and understanding individual.
Finally, I enjoy children immensely. Their curiosity and enthusiasm for life are traits which give me a special affinity with them. For these reasons, I believe that I would be a great teacher for an environment with young children.
As to my future plans in Korea, I am not absolutely certain. I may come back to the states after 6 months in order to start a career teaching over here in the states, or I might find that I enjoy my experience in Korea so much that I may stay 2 or more years.
If you have any questions, please contact me by telephone.
Thank you very much.
