To whom it may concern:
I am very interested in the native English teaching position at your school. I have over a year and a half years of English teaching experience abroad, and am currently finishing up the 100 hour TESOL certification. I first taught English in 2003 in Kunming, China. I taught 36 students between the ages of 5 and 15. I taught English through a series of interactive play episodes such as Art and Crafts, Gym, Kitchen, Games, and Shop. The children learned by me bringing a lot of visuals to class so I always had something to talk about. I made learning hands on, and rewarded children with a token system for speaking correct sentences in the correct content and format. I would make sure we would discuss the set of rules displayed at the beginning of each class such as: Raise your hand, no native language spoke, no touching others, ECT.
I had a wonderful experience teaching in China. The program I went with, International Language Program, liked my teaching skills so much that they asked me to go to Russia the following semester to be a head teacher. Being a head teacher I was responsible for the whole English program of the school I was at. We had over 100 students from ages 3 to 16. I would help the teachers prepare lesson plans and help teach them how to teach English in the most effective way. I would hold meetings to discuss better teaching strategies and give helpful feedback as to what works best.
I make learning fun, and try to make learning as hands on as possible. I believe that when kids are having fun, they will want to talk to you so they will dig deep within their abilities to try and be able to communicate. I prepare lessons that I feel my students will enjoy and want to participate in and involve as much visuals objects as possible. If we are doing something that they enjoy, or talk about something they are interested in, they will be more involved and use more language.
I have had great success with my teaching and have become well admired that I was asked last year to go back to China to run an English program and train and teacher 20 English teachers and be responsible for 150 students ages 3 to 16 learning English.
