Traveling was not a big part of my childhood; the farthest I had ever traveled in my youth had been to Canada to visit family. Of course, as a child this never bothered me; at that time the world was only what I could see. As an adult, I know that there is so much more. Before I came here, most of my knowledge of Korea came from my brother-in-law, whose family is from Seoul. The way he speaks of the food, culture, and people would make anyone regret not having been. This is what brought me to Korea and I am happy to say entices me to stay another year.
Though this employment has been exciting, for me, I cannot take this position lightly; I know it comes with a great burden of responsibility. In the past few years, through my professors and teaching at CDI, I have truly come to understand this burden. My professors have set a precedent for me and I strive to uphold this precedent everyday through my teaching.
I came into the university in which I attended flippantly and my professors were very hard on me because of this. My professors pushed me to produce my very best and challenge my limitations. Due to this my professors helped me to develop not only my critical thinking skills, but truly prepare me for my future.
Though I am unsure if teaching is something that I would like to pursue as a career, I have truly enjoyed my teaching and mentoring throughout CDI and I would love to further explore it’s potential. I look forward to motivating my students and doing everything I can in order to enhance their knowledge and learning experience. My professors have done nothing less for me; it is this quality of teaching that has truly bettered my future, therefore it is be my privilege to share this with others.
