Dear Director,
We are an American couple excited about teaching in Korea. We have recently earned our TESOL/TEFL certification, and are prepared to challenge eager students. Matt Forgy has a degree in Communications while Elissa Ecker has a degree in Fine Arts. As native English speakers with more than 40 combined years experience as students we know what it takes for a teacher to inspire others.
Inspiring students, especially kids, and the thrill of teaching has led us to search for teaching opportunities abroad. We hope to enrich the lives of our students and to grow as people. As teachers, we bring a love of the English language as well as creativity to reach all types of learners. In the photography industry Matt learned to be flexible and solve problems quickly. When problems arise in the classroom, like unpredictable children or a lesson plan that is too advanced, he will be able to solve them immediately. An outgoing personality makes Elissa exciting and approachable to her customers in the service industry. Her enthusiasm and vivid imagination will excite kids to learn the English language.
Korea appeals to us because it is modern and cutting edge while still maintaining its rich culture and history. Taking a high speed train to Jogyesa temple, which is older than the United States, is the type of experience we look forward to. Living in an Asian country will open our eyes to a whole new way of life. We will see things differently, thereby becoming more interesting and well-rounded people. In turn, we will bring our own experiences into the classroom.
Taking on this experience together will help us deal with the culture shock that many people have a difficult time with. We adapt well to challenging situations. Many years spent working with the public taught us patience and flexibility. Our people skills will enable us to succeed as ESL teachers in your classroom.
