Dear Sir/Madam,

Please find enclosed my CV. I have the desire to be able to teach in the Training sector, Sixth Form and Further education and impart my knowledge and expertise to others who need to gain an insight to learning and achievement in education. The current changes in Sixth Form Colleges and Further Education Sectors requires all teachers in the education profession to have a teaching qualification as well as a degree or equivalent in the specialist subjects in order to become proficient in teaching and to raise the highest standards in the teaching profession.

My specialist subjects are English, History, Communications that are grounded in Literature, Language, historical subjects concerning culture, politics and other Major events, which are combined with using electronic resources such as the internet, that are relevant for research. I have the advantage to incorporate my knowledge not only in my specialist subjects, but also in my 14 years industrial experience as an employee in the retail environment, responsibilities included duties such as customer services, communication at all levels from colleague employees and those in managerial positions and members of the public, which meant that I quickly became adaptable and flexible. I have the ability of working under pressure; meet deadlines and working accurately. I possess the ability to demonstrate an understanding of equal opportunities in the standards of employment. Other duties involved cashing handling, stock and price enquires, using IT retail applications, general administration and housekeeping.

I have also taught vocational courses in BTEC Introductory and First Diploma in Retail, Business and Administration and NCFE level 2 Course in Customer Service. As part of the Humanities and Arts team, I have gained practical knowledge of organising of assessments tasks as well as marking and grading systems involving moderation. I have been attending meetings and Personal Development teaching programmes to regularly upkeep my skills and improve my knowledge and experience working in the Post 14-19. Frequently, I liaise with senior tutors, and complete administration such as students' progress reports and registration. Tutorials have also made a link in discovering the need for pastoral and academic support for the students and I ensure that all information remain confidential. I have achieved the skills of teaching, by using teaching methods, understanding the Curriculum and its development and shown support towards students within the post-sixteen further education sector. My particular attention has been focused upon the changes in further education funding and skill count. Therefore, I can work under pressure in order to meet with deadlines.

The courses that I have been teaching are Pre-GCSE, GCSE, Key skills at levels 1 and 2 and AS, A2, Skills for Life, I have taught many students between the ages of 16-19 and adults who are from different social, ethnic, and economic backgrounds. Therefore, I ensure the promotion of equal opportunities for learners that I am responsible for. Within an educational establishment, equal opportunity is a commitment to extend opportunities for education and training to all members of the community by providing them with equal access to their right of education. As an educator, I am committed to practising equality of opportunity for all, irrespective if age, disability, ethnic origin, gender, martial status and religious belief. To this end, this priority is to enhance the self-esteem of all those people and provides a learning environment in which a diversity of backgrounds and experiences are valued, where every individual is encouraged to fulfil his or her potential.

My responsibilities involve developing my own learning materials and resources, preparing schemes of work and lesson plans that involved identifying equal opportunities and differentiation of students who have different learning abilities. I also have developed organisational, planning skills teach students without supervision. I am capable of working within a team and communicate effectively at all levels both orally and in writing. Therefore, I am flexible and can work at different shifts to suit the courses and levels offered.

My enthusiasm, as a teacher has given me the professional approach to life that requires more than a teaching skill, but a personal growth. During my training for the Postgraduate Certificate in Education and Training, I have completed two research based written assignments on the need of Sociolinguistics in teaching and learning English and Qualified Teachers in the F.E sector. I would like to impart new knowledge to the staff and students, while upholding the good reputation of the college.

During my teaching practice and employment, I have successfully passed seven teaching observation assessments that have been observed by my personal tutor, mentor and internal assessors; monitoring my progress to ensure that the teaching skill and classroom management, assessment criteria has met with the highest standards. After my observations, I received effective feedback and positive results. My leisure time is spent on gardening, which has been very therapeutic for my thinking and I have been engaging in writing short stories about people's past experiences which I find amusing and fascinating.

The college has an excellent reputation and would be an ideal place for me to continue my education. I would cherish the opportunity of working as part of a team and to provide the excellent quality in teaching as well as to promote equality in education and deliver success. I have enough time to commit myself on my teaching career. There is no other interest that could hinder me from pursuing my academic field in teaching.

I would be delighted to discuss any detail of my application at your convenience. Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to hearing from you.

Yours Faithfully

Ama Plange
