Dear Sir,
As a graduate in economics with an emphasis on French literature from the University of California San Diego (UCSD), I want to teach ESL for you. Aside from my major, I also studied history and culture to broaden myself. I took that further, and like many other students with a keen interest in Korea, spent time watching Korea dramas online. They were addictive and helped to build my passion for this culture. I became so interested in Korea that I recently started to learn the language on my own.
I can also work in different enviornments and with people from different backgrounds. For example, I have a background as a tutor in high school. I helped students, some who were Japanese, with SAT math and English. Also, I spent a year at Hitotsubashi University, Tokyo. I was in the economics department and took regular classes with other students, including a year-long seminar with a focus on the Chinese economy. After my graduation, I studied in Paris perfecting my French and learning about the French culture at the Sorbonne University. My studies in languages taught me to be disciplined in my work and has reinforced my passion for cultures in general.
ESL in Korea will give me experience working and living in a country I have never been to before, and whose language I am not fluent in. In the future, after completing a masters, I have the intention of returning to Korea to work. I will have a strong background in Asian cultures and languages and will be able to use them in international business. Personally, having lived in France, Japan and the US, I have a diverse background and would like to share it with others.
Sincerely,
Michael Abe
