I have always had great interest in working in the English education industry, especially with early education. Although I hold a Korean nationality, I have been raised in Australia since I was 9 and have lived there more than half of my life. I left Sydney late February this year to seek and gain valuable experience in Korea and also to follow up on the Korean culture, which had definately been missing in my life for the past 13 years.
My recent position at Seoul National University has given me a chance to futher on from my brief administration career I had back in Sydney and learn about the Korean society and its work ethics. As a general administrator for the World Class University Program at the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, I have been responsible for secretary duties for the lectures coming from prestigious universities from overseas; such as Brown University (US), Stanford University (US), Monash Univerrsity (AU) and Ritsumeikan University (JP). I have also translated numerous documents for the Department¡¯s website and for the school curriculums. It is without doubt that my position at Seoul National University had opened a vast variety of opportunities as an administrator/p.a for my future. However, with my strong belief and desire to professionalize my career as an educator, I decided to find a more suitable institution where I can achieve these goals.
Some of my personal qualities which I believe would become an asset when applying for a teaching position are my flexible attitude and patience. I have constantly endeavored to reinforce these qualities from some of the various retail positions I have had in Australia. I have worked with influential companies such as Polo Ralph Lauren, Jimmy Choo and Pleasure State Lingerie (Australian). As a student, I have also been engaged in supervising Australian K-12 students' homeworks and tests at Kumon Education. Although the part-time job had brief duties, it led me to open new doors to tutor English to some of the students from overseas. From then on, I started private tutoring for students from various backgrounds; including Australians, Koreans, and working-holiday students from all over the world.
As for my educational background, I have deferred my Bachelor of Arts degree with majors in Psychology and Japanese at the University of Sydney. I plan on staying in Korea for the next 2 years (minimum) and believe that I may be able to use this opportunity to build, learn and again valuable experiences teaching English. It will definately have great impact on my life as I am expecting to finish a B/Ed and M/Ed course back in Sydney.
I have continuously endeavored to achieve the expected and beyond at my workplace and find self-motivation through the challenging work I am assigned to each day. I am a fast learner, ambient yet charismatic at difficult circumstances, attentive and fast acting. I am prepared to work my way up the industry with great anticipation to gain and learn.
I am able to start the position from whichever date I am required for. I sincerely hope for the best for my possibility of meeting you to further discuss my suitability. |
