To Whom It May Concern:

For eight years, I have taught students from ages five to nineteen in schools in America and South Korea.  I taught at Sogang Language Program in Suwon, and Bulgok Middle school in Gyeonggi-do province, where I also taught an English conversation class for adults who were interested in advancing their careers.  From my experience teaching English as a a second language in Korea, I have learned to be acutely aware of my students¡¯ individual needs, developed sympathy and empathy for students¡¯ due to the difficulties with learning and communicating in a foreign language.  While setting high expectations, I have learned to build confidence with encouragement and praise, to keep an open mind and be culturally aware. I love designing lessons around students' interests and hobbies, using authentic materials such as newspapers, maps, menus, and travel brochures, which accelerate the learning process.  Creating a comfortable learning environment by using games, film, music and movement has made learning English enjoyable for al.  I will certainly bring my skill set to the classroom.

I am currently enrolled in a TEFL Master¡¯s course so I may become a more effective ESL teacher and advance my career in education.

Attached is my resume, which details my qualification for the position.

I look forward to talking to you regarding the position.  I will contact you by email within the week to confirm you have received my email and to answer any questions you may have.

Thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely,
Jay M. Johnson
