June 09, 2009
To whom it may concern,
I am a 27 year old student at the University of Washington (Seattle, WA) about to receive my Bachelor¡¯s Degree in Art/Architecture History come the completion of Spring Term (June 13th).
I have plenty of interests such as music, movies, drawing, and outdoor activities (a list is provided on my C/V). I¡¯d like to note that I¡¯m a firm believer in having hobbies, because it stimulates creativity.
So why Corea? After spending the last few years in the city, I want a place similar to Seattle – a place that provides an urban lifestyle with nature as my neighbor. I also want to go to a place with both ancient and modern architecture – to study and be in awe of at the same time. Learning the culture and language of a new country always interests me. Plus, being a Corean-American, I feel like I¡¯m able to adapt quickly and easily to the culture and language.
So why teaching? When I was in Seoul in the summer of 2007, I realized how important English is in students¡¯ curriculum. I¡¯m envious at how early some children start learning English. I wish America would have encouraged learning different languages in primary schools. That being said I want to be a part of their learning process. I feel I have the patience, compassion and positive attitude required for teaching – children and adults the same.
My intentions are to reside in Corea for a year (if not, longer) to teach English. Thank you for taking time in considering me as a candidate.
I¡¯m looking forward to hearing from you.
