To Whom It May Concern:

I am very interested in the prospect of obtaining a teaching position in Korea where I would be able to teach English for the next year, starting in August. Initially, I learned about the possibility of teaching in Korea from acquaintances in school as well as from family and relatives. Dave¡¯s ESL Café was one of the sites recommended to me as a resource to begin my search about the possibility of teaching in Korea. From there, I received contact from different sources offering teaching positions.

From peers and relatives, I have heard that there are usually more job opportunities in working with younger age groups, for people like myself that do not have previous teaching experience. One of my interests involves working with children. With the time I spent at the University of Miami, I worked toward gaining knowledge and experience in the field of child psychology by attaining a psychology degree and participating in different programs and internships relating to working with children. However, even though I do not have experience in teaching English in a classroom setting, I am eager to learn and commit to the new challenge. In addition to the work experience, I look forward to having the opportunity to visit Korea to experience the culture and become immersed in learning the language, being that my parents and their families are from South Korea. As a Korean-American, I hope to learn as much as I can about my Korean heritage, being that I do not have a grasp of the Korean language or a better understanding of Korean culture.

It is my hope that with this opportunity, I can gain more valuable experience and knowledge about a possible future in teaching. I look forward to working with you in order to find a school that would be a good fit for me. I have been visiting multiple websites to see what opportunities are currently available in August. In the mean time, I will try to find more information or recommendations about the different cities listed from family, friends, and Internet research. The most convenient form of contact is through email. However, by phone, the best times to contact me at the phone number above is generally after 8:00 PM U.S. Eastern Time. If mornings are more convenient, times between 7:00 to 9:00 AM during the week are also open, given notice ahead of time. Sundays are also usually open as well. Thank you for your time, and I look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,

Jessica K. Lim
