Dear ESL Agent,
I’m writing to express my interest in the teaching position with a school in South Korea. I am a native English speaker and a recent graduate from the University of Michigan. Although I have never taught English in a formal setting, I have extensive experience teaching adults. As a manager at Arby's restaurant I was responsible for employee training. I do similar work in my current position with the Pizza Hut restaurant. The time I have devoted to these workplaces makes me easily adaptable and comfortable in a leadership position. Finally, I am an accomplished musician and have taught guitar lessons to both children and adults for a number of years. My background as a performing musician has also allowed me to flourish successfully in a creative environment for almost ten years.
It will be a difficult task to find someone more enthusiastic about the idea of teaching in South Korea than I am. I have a deep and abiding affinity for the art, culture, aesthetics, and history of the Korean peninsula. I wish to broaden my knowledge of the country while at the same time improving the cultural understanding of my Korean students, and I am confident there is as much for me to learn from them as there is for me to teach. Education is the cornerstone of a fulfilling life, and it is in this spirit which I wish to teach abroad!
