Dear Sir or Madam,
Having just completed a year teaching children of elementary and middle school age within the private sector in South Korea, I am eager to continue my teaching career working with preferably children of high school age. I have already received my TESOL/TESL certification in the May of 2007 through Oxford Seminars and have graduated with distinction, from the University of Windsor in Windsor, Ontario, Canada, with an undergraduate degree in history in August of 2007. My goal is to continue my career working with children in the educational sector.
To be an effective teacher, one must first enjoy teaching and working with others. My passion for teaching has remained consistent since I first arrived in Korea to teach English almost a year ago. Another important attribute to have as a teacher is patience. To be an effective teacher, one must realize that all students will have difficulty understanding and comprehending a foreign language. Throughout my teaching career, I have worked hard at create a supportive environment where students have felt free to make mistakes, while at the same time, trying to establish a positive work ethic within each student. Through this type of teaching method, my many students have improved both their English language abilities and their overall work ethic, both inside and outside the classroom.
I have always had a desire to teach. Throughout my post-secondary career until my present job as an ESL teacher, I have been training to eventually become a teacher. Through my experiences as an ESL teacher, I have been able to apply my leadership skills, diligent work ethic, positive demeanor and energetic personality into the classroom, which has paid dividends both for the students and myself. These characteristics have enabled me to become an effective teacher.
