I am writing this letter to express my interest in applying for an English teaching position at your school. I have experience teaching English to students of varying ages and proficiency levels. I have taught in a variety of educational settings, including most recently at an institute in Seoul. Prior to working in Seoul I worked at a private language school in Southeastern China.
I have returned to Canada for the months of July and August, but I hope to return to Korea in late August/ early September. I have loved living in Korea so far, because I¡¯ve had so many positive experiences here. The culture is fascinating and the Korean friends I¡¯ve made are amazing people. I would like to continue teaching in Korea and I want to commit to a 1 year contract with a school.
One of the best experiences I¡¯ve had in Korea is teaching Korean students and interacting with English learners on a daily basis. I believe that an effective teacher must be supportive, positive, and facilitate a learning environment where the students are comfortable and confident in practicing new English-language skills. I aim to make sure that all of the students I teach achieve their full potential by encouraging them and working with each student¡¯s particular learning needs.
In addition to this letter I am providing my resume which outlines my university education, TESL training, and work experience. I am a creative and committed person with a positive attitude. I also believe that my enthusiastic and sociable personality, in addition to my love of teaching, will enable me to be a successful teacher at your institution. I hope that we could arrange an interview at your earliest convenience. I appreciate your consideration of my application.
Thank you for your time.
Respectfully,
~ Catriona Davie
