My name is Boyeoun Won and I have currently completed my third year of studies in my degree of Commerce/Arts at Monash University. There are a multitude of reasons as to why I believe undertaking a position at your institution will prove beneficial and an invaluable experience for not only my academic future but also my mental and emotional development.
I was born in Australia and am of Korean background; hence I wanted to devote a year of experience through your institution. Although I have received 2 years of education in Korea, it was when I was at a very young age, thus not having the mental discipline or maturity to take full advantage of the opportunity I had. Therefore I believe this is the perfect opportunity to further my knowledge of my heritage and that of Korean culture. Currently studying ‘Studies in translation: Korean-English, I have a great passion for the studying of the Korean language, cultures and customs, I believe this interest ultimately stems from my involvement as Vice-President of the Korean Students Association of Monash which led me to realise the capacity and extent to which culture enriches lives.
Acting as Vice-President of the Korean Students Association of Monash, I have learnt and gathered knowledge on how to lead others, as this was a necessity required for the position. I inevitably learnt many lessons and values and have come to thoroughly enjoy and appreciate the responsibility of which I believe a leader bears.
I believe my endeavours and transition into your institution will be greatly assisted by the fact I speak Korean and English fluently. I have been advised as to the excellence of your institution and believe that this particular program will adequately facilitate for both my personal interests in Korean culture and also for my academic aims to focus on the Korean language. I am truly looking forward to studying and living in Korea for a year and endeavour to approach this experience with a sense of enthusiasm and dedication. I am confident that I will complete my year of experience at your institutionto the best of my ability.
